While I was driving myself to the hospital, Nate could not sit still. He threw in some of our newborn girl clothes from when Eliana was a baby and found some unisex ones. It still makes me laugh that when Nate got to the hospital around 5:00 am, he was hanging these clothes around the delivery room since they hadn't had time to fully dry. I love that part of the story.

Ethan Oscar's arrival
It is so fun to look back at these pictures, almost four months now, that Ethan was born. His arrival was early, quick, scary and surprising; but we feel so lucky that everyone is healthy and fine. My water broke at 2:30 am on Tuesday, June 19, 5 weeks ahead of due date (July 20). It was such a loud gush of water that it even woke Nate up as a huge puddle splashed next to our bed. I was in denial and so was Nate. After drying out, we decided to look up a few things online before panicking to call the midwife. Well, I should have just faced reality, because it truly was my water. We were just in such disbelief we were sure it was something else (like what? I have no idea). So, we called the midwife, which happened to be Heather (the same one who helped deliver Eliana) and she said I needed to come in. Since Eliana was still asleep and we hadn't prepared for this early of an arrival and my contractions hadn't started, we decided that I would drive myself to the hospital while we figured out childcare for Eliana. Our original plan was to have one of my friends, Michelle or Janna, come watch her, but that would have been in July when he was really due and since they were still teaching in school, we had to opt for plan b. So, before leaving the house and discussing things we needed in our bag, we decided to call Anna and Casey and see which one answered:)
