Happy 1st Birthday, lil' E!!

We had a great time celebrating Ethan's first birthday yesterday at Ella Bailey Park.  Cupcakes, grapes and gold fish (plus beer for moms and dads) made it simple and fun. And, the weather held out for us.  Ethan loved his cupcake and getting nice and blue with the frosting.  We still can't believe it's been a year since he came into our lives.  What a blessing he has been.  His mellow, laid-back attitude reminds us to take it easy and remember that sometimes it's good to go slow in life. We love you, Ethan, and are so glad you have been a healthy and happy baby since day 1.  We are blessed and lucky to have you.  We love you so much.

Eliana did the honors of blowing out his candle.  We didn't make the same mistake that we did with her, when she put her hand through the candle at her first birthday:)

 Do we look like Smurfs?

Judy, a dear friend of ours, was there too!

Earlier in the day, Max brought over a balloon for Ethan and Eliana took it up to him when he woke up from his nap. He was so excited!! It was precious...

Ethan - 11 Months

I can't believe how fast the last few months have gone.  Here's some fun things about Ethan before we have a 1-year old on our hands!

New Skills:
-"So big"
- High fives (sometimes he points his pointer finger for 5, so cute!)
- Cruising along the furniture
- Understanding simple statements like, "Where's your ball?"
- Rolling/passing the ball back to us
- Turning pages of a board book

Likes:
- Crazy about pulling himself up and practicing over and over
- WATER. Maniac in the bath, so much that he bumps his head over and over because he's exploring full board
- the book called, "The Little Blue Truck." He loves it and when we say, "Ethan, want to read 'the Little Blue Truck?' He crawls over to it and giggles in delight.  It's so precious.
-His lovie is definitely defined now. He loves "Bunny" who is the 'Goodnight Moon' bunny, dressed in blue and white.

Dislikes:
- Some other boring board books to him...he will merely just push them away.  Eliana never did this; she loved all the books and would sit for hours.
- Starting to protest the stroller and bike trailer....

Schedule:
Still napping twice a day and going for 1.5-2 hours/nap.  Glorious.

He is such a fun baby and it's amazing to watch him play with Eliana.  They now giggle at each other and scream in delight when they see each other first thing in the morning and after naps. Eliana will run up there after he's up from his nap and they will hug through the crib slats.  It's precious.  It cracks us up because she wants to hold him now...he's huge!  So it doesn't really work to hold him; funny that she was never into him as a new baby and now she's totally into it.  So fun to see their relationship develop...
