It was a perfect day for Ethan's baptism....on Mother's Day! Marilyn (the Reverend of our church, The Espiscopal Church of the Ascension) truly loves baptisms and it showed. All the children brought glasses of water to fill the crystal bowl on the font. Ethan was squirming from the beginning, trying to leap into the bowl of water, so excited to see it poured in and blessed. I could not hold him still; he was shaking in happiness with all 4 limbs. He loved it, did not cry, and then didn't even flinch when Marilyn accidentally got some of the oil in his eyes. She put oil on him after the water, this amazing herbal scent with some frankincense in it. In fact, I'm still smelling it today and it's wonderful. Anyway, he then let Marilyn parade him around during the sharing of the Peace. It was a wonderful day and so fun to see all the children gather around the font, excitedly watching a baby being baptized.
The only disappointment of the whole day was seeing that the pictures did not turn out as well as we'd hoped. Silly indoor photography:( My Dad was unable to make it due to some health issues. But, a big thanks to my Mom and Amy. We missed the rest of our family, but will be able to celebrate soon in person.
Excited to explore the altar after the service.
Sleepy bear after all the excitement
With God Mother, Amy
These pictures were taken after the service (in respect to the Sacrament). Ethan still could not get enough of the water....
Coffee hour and practicing walking
