A Day on Bainbridge
When we heard the news of my Grandma passing away, we wanted to get away and leave the city. So, we went out to our favorite spot for breakfast - Lola, and then hopped on a ferry to Bainbridge. It was a great way to spend the day and try to focus our energy together as a family.

Backpack trip on Buck Creek Pass
Some things in life "fill your cup" and for Nate and I that thing together is backpacking. So, when the timing just so happened to play out that my Grandma passed away the week we had scheduled to go backpacking, we felt we still needed to get our fill. This for us, lasts all year-long, the 9 long months of rain in Seattle and living in the city can all be better given a couple backpack trips a year. So, we asked our babysitter, Syd, if she would watch Eliana from 8:00 am Saturday morning to 5:00 pm Sunday night. We also know her parents (my boss and his wife) are wonderful people and would help her out, so we did it.
Eliana had fun watching Syd play basketball that weekend while Nate and I got in a 10-mile trip up to Buck Creek Pass, just outside of Leavenworth. We hiked to the pass which offers incredible views of Glacier Peak. We will return there someday. It is magical and amazing. Glacier Peak is not seen by any highways in Washington. You literally have to get to the backcountry to see it. And, it is WORTH it. And, it's name holds true - we were camping amongst a couple deer (bucks, to be precise) and praying for no rain. We lucked out and only had some cloudy skies on our way in on Saturday. Thank you to Syd and the Melkersons for taking such good care of Elle Belle and thanks to my amazing husband for even making surprises up a 10-mile hike.
Cloudy but not miserable on the way in
An amazing tree down area, that was just cleared this summer (thank you trail volunteers!)
Glacier Peak started showing itself right as we set up camp; it was perfect timing
Always a surprise. Nate brought two cans of champagne to celebrate our 4th anniversary
Glacier Peak in all its glory. Like any other mountain shots, this does not do it justice, but imagine a miniature Mt. Rainier plus more....

Mr. Bear, Elle Belle's best friend
One day, we were invited to Lily's house to paint. Elle Belle wasn't interested in the paper at all; instead; she went tribal!

Girls weekend in Buena Vista
Anna, Michelle, Laura and I headed to John and Maria's house in BV, Colorado for a long weekend in September. We had just the right timing with perfectly warm and sunny weather. We got two great hikes in, had a great visit with Kari for one of the nights as she drove up from Denver, and we loved being in the mountain house catching up as friends. Thanks, John and Maria - we loved our weekend there!

Happy hour on the deck
Aspen were changing colors all over and it was beautiful.
The long haul up to the 14'er we hiked, Mt. Yale, which sits at 14,202 feet elevation. There was a long scramble up top, but the views were incredible. Kari was such a trooper for meeting us at the TH that morning after driving up from Denver.

Dad & Eliana Weekend
Nate and Eliana had a great weekend together which consisted of co-op, a trip to the Snoqualmie River, a boat ride on Lake WA, hang out time with Katherine and trips to the park. Thank you, Nate, for taking such good care of her while I got time away. I love you.
